Winter Roots

An 8-week program to help you nourish this winter, for a strong (and burn-out free) summer.

Winter has a way of quietly changing our rhythm.

The mornings get darker. Energy shifts.

Life somehow becomes fuller.

And often the first things to disappear are the things that nourish us – movement, stillness, connection, the moments that belong only to us.

Not because we stop caring.

Because we’re carrying a lot.

So this year, we’re doing winter differently at Soma.

We’ve created something called Winter Roots.

This isn’t a challenge.

It isn’t about pushing harder.

It’s not about becoming a better version of yourself.

It’s simply an invitation to keep returning to yourself through the colder months.

How it works:

Over 8 weeks, we’re inviting you to keep showing up – for movement, for community, for yourself.

And for every class you attend during Winter Roots, we’re donating $1 to Beryl House to support women experiencing DV.

Every investment you make in yourself automatically benefits another woman in need.

We’re also running community missions – simple, easy acts of nourishment or kindness – that we’re calling ‘seeds’. For every 100 seeds planted, we’re donating another $1.

We're also rewarding you for this investment in yourself.

🌱 Come to 16 classes, and unlock “Roots Planted”: Plant your roots over 16 classes during this program and you’ll receive a Winter Ritual Gift as a celebration to yourself. PLUS you’ll help Soma extend support to women experiencing housing insecurity.

For those who attend 16 classes over the 8 weeks, you can say “I stayed connected to myself through winter.”

FAQs

Do I need to be a member to join?

In somatic therapy, we begin by first supporting your body to find and re-find safety and stability, which we call regulation. As we build regulation together, we learn the unique language of your nervous system. Only then is it safe to work small pieces of  ‘activation’ or tricky past moments.

This approach ensures you can come back into safety and stability with each ‘activation’. This is a key component to ensuring you are not re-traumatised, and that we don’t overwork the system.

Rather than focussing only on the story, processing traumas is done through sensations, images, movements, behaviours, emotions, and meaning, allowing your body to respond to the perceived danger in a way it wasn’t able to at the time.

This allows the ‘driving’ force behind your symptoms to be resolved, and many people experience a sense of peace, a connection with their vitality, and a sense of being more themselves.

How does the community part work?

On our app, under ‘Communities’, the communities you’re part of show up there. We’ll be supporting engagement, sharing announcements, and helping you nourish yourself as deeply as possible through this winter period.

Can I donate to Beryl House through this program too?

Absolutely! Have a chat to us 🙂

You don’t have to do it alone.
