Energy healing in Canberra.

For the parts of you that logic just can’t quite reach.

Healing at the spiritual level.

Sometimes what we’re carrying isn’t something we can think our way out of. It lives deeper than that, in the body, in the energy field, in patterns that have been with us so long we’ve forgotten they weren’t always there.

Energy healing works at that deeper level. It’s not about fixing or forcing. It’s about creating the conditions for your system to release what it no longer needs, restore what has been depleted, and remember its own capacity for balance and wholeness.

At Soma, we offer two distinct forms of energy healing, Reiki and Mayan Healing, across three gifted practitioners. Each brings their own presence, lineage, and way of working. What they share is a genuine attunement to the person in front of them and a deep respect for the intelligence of the body and spirit.

Reiki

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice that works by guiding universal life-force energy through the body to support healing on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. Practitioners use light touch or hands held just above the body, following the energy to where it’s needed most.

Research has shown reiki can support improvements in pain, stress, anxiety, depression, and sleep. But beyond what the studies measure, many people describe reiki as an experience of profound settling; a deep sense of being held, of something unwinding that they didn’t even know was wound tight.

Sessions are gentle, fully clothed, and deeply restful.

Mayan Healing

Mayan Healing is unlike anything else we offer at Soma, and unlike most things you’ll find anywhere.

This is not a modality you learn from a manual or complete in a training weekend. It is a traditional healing practice, passed down through initiation and mentorship across generations. Steph received this lineage through direct initiation and practices it as an honouring of a living tradition that predates modern wellness by thousands of years.

It is a deep, ancient form of energetic healing. Shamanic in nature, it works at the level of the soul, shifting what is stuck, clearing what no longer belongs, and opening space for something new. Sessions involve a journey with Mama Jaguar, a powerful ancestral presence within the Mayan healing tradition, though what that means in practice is something each person discovers for themselves.

And that’s the thing about Mayan Healing. It is genuinely difficult to describe, because the experience is different for everyone. What it brings depends entirely on what you need. Some people experience profound emotional release. Some feel a deep settling, a quieting of something that has been loud for a long time. Some simply feel, as one person put it, that there is more space, less stuck. Others find a deep shift that opens opportunities within themselves that weren’t there before.

What we can say is this: it is real, it is ancient, and it moves things.

If you’re curious, trust that curiosity. This is the kind of healing that tends to find the people who are ready for it.

Meet Your Practitioners

Steph

A reiki session with Steph is an experience of being taken somewhere. She works with an intuitive, journey-like quality that guides clients through layers of their own experience; gently, but with depth.

Steph also offers Mayan Healing, and her reiki practice is informed by that same connection to ancient, lineage-based wisdom.

Steph has been practicing various forms of energy healing for many years, and brings a deep and powerful experience to her work.

Daniella

Daniella brings a deeply responsive, client-centred presence to her reiki sessions. She works intuitively, attuning herself to what each person needs in the room on that day, following the energy rather than a fixed script. Sessions with Daniella have a quality of genuine attentiveness; clients often feel truly met, exactly as they are.

Natalia

Natalia brings a grounded, wise presence to her healing work. There is a steadiness and depth to her sessions that clients find deeply reassuring. It’s the sense of being held by someone who has seen a lot, understands a lot, and brings all of that quietly into the room. Natalia also works as an acupuncturist and massage therapist, and her energy healing reflects that same integrative, whole-body understanding.

When you stop long enough to be still,

something in you remembers how to breathe again.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between reiki and Mayan Healing?

Both work with energy, but they are quite different in practice and in lineage. Reiki is a Japanese healing system involving light touch or hands held above the body, channelling universal life-force energy. Mayan Healing is a traditional ancestral practice passed down through initiation, shamanic in nature, working at the level of the soul.

Reiki tends to feel gentle and deeply restful. Mayan Healing is often more of a journey, less predictable, and potentially more profound in its shifts.

Both offer tangible healing from the inside out.

Do I need to believe in energy healing for it to work?

You don’t need to arrive with any particular belief system. Openness and willingness are enough. Many people who consider themselves sceptical have had significant experiences with energy healing, and many people find it complementary to, rather than in conflict with, a more scientific worldview.

What does a reiki session feel like?

Most people experience deep relaxation during a reiki session, sometimes drifting in and out of a light sleep, sometimes noticing warmth, tingling, or a sense of heaviness lifting. Some people have emotional releases. Some simply feel very peaceful. It’s a gentle, non-invasive experience and you remain fully clothed throughout.

What can I expect from a Mayan Healing session?

Truthfully, it varies, and that’s part of what makes it what it is. The session will be shaped by what you need, not by a fixed script. What most people share afterwards is some version of feeling different, lighter, clearer, more themselves. We’d encourage you not to arrive with too firm an expectation, and simply to be open to the experience.

Before you session, Steph will support you to create an intention, and this will guide the work. There is preparation work involved – typically this involves a short period of fasting and bringing a pendant necklace for the process.

Once you arrive, Steph will sit you down with some tea, invite you to share with her anything relevant for you in the moment, then she will guide you to meet your Mayan angels and Mama Jaguar. The session will then take place on the table, and will involve sound, breath, hands on contact, and more depending on what is required in the moment.

Is energy healing safe alongside other treatments?

Yes. Energy healing is gentle and non-invasive and works well alongside conventional medical treatment, psychological therapy, or other complementary modalities. It is not a replacement for medical care, but many people find it a valuable part of a broader approach to wellbeing.

How many sessions do I need?

Some people feel significant shifts after a single session. Others prefer to come regularly as part of an ongoing wellbeing practice. There’s no fixed recommendation, it depends on what you’re working with and what feels right for you.

Can I choose which practitioner I see?

Yes, absolutely. If you’re drawn to a particular practitioner, trust that. If you’re not sure, reach out and we can help match you based on what you’re looking for.

Is reiki covered by private health insurance?

Some private health funds do cover reiki under extras, so it’s worth checking your policy. Cover varies significantly between funds and levels.
