Community

Going it alone has been one of the most successful strategies in destroying our wellbeing. We are neurobiologically wired to live together, love together, hurt together, and heal together. If our wellbeing journey centres us as individuals only, our growth will be limited and our impact in the world muted. At Soma, our intention is to build a community of care.

Collaboration

At Soma, we centre you as the expert in your own life, body, and experience. We are here to help you reconnect to yourself and your own health, wellbeing, and wisdom, and support you in overcoming any obstacles that may be blocking your path. By working with you, rather than gatekeeping answers, we hope to walk with you towards your goals.

Authenticity

Life can be amazing, joyful, and fun, and it can be hard, dark, and messy. Sometimes at the same time! At Soma, we are here for all the good and all the bad, and tell it like it is.

We also know that we need balance – sometimes gold can be mined from the darkest depths, but we can’t stay there or we’ll never see the gold shine. We welcome you exactly as you are, where you are, offering hope on the other side.

Embodiment

Our culture has disconnected us from our bodies, prioritising progress and mental acuity over everything else. At Soma, we know the body is the key to our wellbeing (it’s even in our name!), and that our intuition and emotional fluency are just as important as intellect.

We also truly believe that our bodies are not separate from the earth nor each other. When we learn how to come home to our body and our extended body of the earth, we learn how to live well, in balance and harmony, and full life.

Regulation

Regulation is not being calm, it’s being able to experience all our emotions, impulses, reactions, and nervous system states without becoming overwhelmed or exhausted.

At Soma, we value expanding our nervous system capacity individually and collectively, to hold space for everything life throws at us and everything we want to create.

Compassion

At Soma, we are human. We are messy, imperfect, hilarious, and make mistakes. We strive to extend compassion to ourselves and everyone who walks through our doors, calling out the best in all. You are welcome just as you are, in all your human glory.

Boundaries

We’re all about full life, and living here and now. To do that, we’re also all about setting boundaries.

At Soma, we expect respect in communications, energy exchange, and self-responsibility for how you show up.

Please honour our staff and patrons by turning up on time, speaking curteously, honouring your payments, being quiet in shared spaces (including the stairwell), not blaming others for how you feel, treating each other with kindness, and raising any issues with us directly.

We expect the same from our staff.

You don’t have to do it alone.
